Silver Magnolia

As her name implies, she has a beautiful silver colored under coat, but that isn't what really captivated us. In addition to great presence, she has the most incredible ears. Just check out those bananas!

They are solid as a rock and they never waiver, even in our strong winds here at Kerith. As Richard used to say, they are A+ ears. Some people can boast of banana ears on their llamas, but few can claim to have A+ ears. Silver Magnolia has the distinguished honor of being acclaimed by Richard Patterson, who is very particular about llama ears. 

Llama Life II featured La Raya Peru (Silver magnolia's sire) as a legendary sire. At the time of the 1999 feature article, La Raya Peru had sired 124 offspring. They quoted La Raya's new owner, Wayne Rankin, "I purchased La Raya Peru because he has a history of very, tall, stretchy offspring when mated to the right female." Silver Magnolia carries on her sires genetic propensity for tall, stretchy  productions.

Silver Magnolia was the last cria out of a famous llama named Melba. Melba was an excellent female in the Patterson breeding program that produced many wonderful animals. Melba's sons have been super herd sires, and  her daughters have been keepers of llama breeders across the country. We were very blessed to acquire Silver Magnolia from the Pattersons. She truly is a gem in our breeding herd. Silver Magnolia has the look and she is also an awesome producer.
